The perception of figure reversal as a function of contrast reversal exemplified with the Schroder staircase

Abstract

During spontaneous reversal of a reversible figure (Schroder staircase), subjects spent less time in perceiving line drawings white on black then black on white. Possibly the first stimulus makes a stronger three-dimensional impression.
