Acta Neurobiologiae Experimentalis is a continuation of Acta Biologiae Experimentalis that was founded in 1928 and published articles in the broad area of experimental biology. From the beginning ANE was edited in the Nencki Institute of Experimental Biology and had an international Board of Editors. In 1970 its name was changed and the scope was focused on neuroscience. The first Editor of ANE was Professor Jerzy Konorski and till 1989 it was published by Polish Scientific Publishers. The Nencki Institute became the publisher of ANE in 1990.
