A system of command neurons in snail’s escape behavior

Abstract

Intracellular stimulation of each of the nine identified neurons released a specific withdrawal reactions. These cells fire in response to strong tactile, light and thermal stimuli releasing escape behavior, and are assumed to be command neurons.
